We’ll evaluate your posture, range of motion and level of fitness, and address any existing chronic conditions. This assessment will set the pace for your customized fitness plan, and build your relationship with our team of Medical Exercise Specialists. A Medical Exercise Specialist is an allied health professional who can assess your health and wellness with an understanding of dozens of conditions affecting your arms, legs, and spine, as well as your cardiovascular system and neurological system. Our Medical Exercise Specialists will create a safe and effective fitness and conditioning program tailored to a variety of chronic conditions, perfect for someone recovering from an illness, injury, or surgery, or who has other physical limitations. We call this tailored plan your exercise prescription.

Our Certified Personal Trainers and Medical Exercise Specialists will listen, guide and support you on your journey to becoming more fit and healthy, helping you gain confidence with a training program tailored to your health and fitness goals.

Exercise can benefit everyone far beyond a desire to lose weight. A regular exercise program of just three hours each week can significantly lower your risk of developing age-related chronic conditions, and in some cases reduce or reverse the effects of an existing condition.

Vital Steps® offers a variety of exercise programs at a range of intensities that are suitable for people with cardiovascular disease and heart disease. The best way to improve heart health is to get your heart pumping for at least thirty minutes every day for optimum cardiovascular health and fitness - we’ll ensure that it’s the right activity for you. If you have a heart condition, you should contact your physician before beginning any fitness plan.

Many people visit Vital Steps® for rehab training once they have been discharged from their physiotherapist. We work with you and build on your physiotherapy to aid in your recovery, tailoring your training so it supports and rehabilitates your body through the healing process.

Recently, more people are visiting Vital Steps® for “pre-hab” to prepare themselves for surgery. Having a healthy heart, strong muscles and an efficient metabolism are key for minimizing your downtime and bouncing back after surgery.

With any physical activity there is always the risk of injury. At Vital Steps®, because our training plans are specifically tailored to your health, our Certified Personal Trainers and Medical Exercise Specialists will ensure that you are never putting yourself at risk. Our staff will educate, monitor and guide you in a safe and supportive environment. With regular exercise, you’ll also be reducing your risk of injury by improving your bone density, your balance, your muscle strength, and your range of motion.
The gym experience isn’t for everyone, which is why our Certified Personal Trainers and Medical Exercise Specialists can come to you. Our Home Fit program offers in-home personal training with all the one-on-one and specialized attention that you would get in one of our facilities. We can also help you select and source fitness equipment if you are building a home gym, or lead group sessions with your friends and colleagues. Going on a vacation or travelling for business, but you don’t want to take a break from your fitness? No problem. We can create a custom fitness routine that you can take on the road.
You should work out in clothing that is comfortable and easy to move in, but the style is entirely up to you. Just make sure to wear sturdy athletic shoes.

You can drop in and work out on your own at any time; however, for safety and liability reasons, facility use for individual workouts is only available once you have completed your initial consultation, assessment, and one personal training session. Contact us to schedule an assessment.
